DESCRIPTION:Learners are introduced to Python coding via a game format and Ozaria Classroom.  Learners need to assist their avatar through various challenges in a narrative adventure by writing the code that will guide the movements of the avatar.  Key coding concepts such as syntax, debugging, loops, sequences, booleans and conditionals are learned and immediately implemented by writing the next section of code for the avatar.

<strong>Please note:</strong>
<ul>
 	<li><strong>Learners will need to bring their own device with a keyboard</strong>.</li>
 	<li>Please check our specifications sheet at the bottom of the terms and conditions to ensure that your device will be suitable.</li>
 	<li>The class takes place within the hackLAB environment.</li>
 	<li>This is a blended learning class with a facilitator available to assist the learning process.</li>
 	<li>Learners are free to progress at their own pace.</li>
 	<li>Learners are encouraged to discuss the course material and concepts with each other as information sharing is an important part of the learning process.</li>
 	<li>Learners will be able to come in on Fridays between 12h00 - 17h00 to work on their coding.</li>
 	<li>Learners will need to log their proposed times of attendance with the office in the preceding week.</li>
 	<li>Please consider the long-term commitment in light of your child's sports commitments.</li>
 	<li>We recommend this course for learners who are able to prioritise coding and robotics as their extra-curricular activity.</li>
 	<li>The licence fee for access to the coding environment is $30.  This is a once-off fee, and is separate to the monthly hackLAB fee.  The licence fee will be invoiced separately once the term has begun.</li>

<strong>Prerequisites:</strong>
<ul>
 	<li>own device with a keyboard</li>
 	<li>a basic knowledge of the computer keyboard</li>
</ul>
Cost:  R600 per month (for 11 months) payable on the 1st of the month, <strong>plus </strong>a once-off $30 licence fee for a year's access to the coding environment.
